Grilled asparagus with hemp oil

TO DRINK: Mooiplaas Sauvignon Blanc 2007: flavours of tropical fruit, asparagus and figs work with this delicate dish.

Ingredients:

16 fresh asparagus spears
pinch of salt
60ml (¼ cup) oil (we used hemp oil)
60ml (¼ cup) butter, melted
1 garlic clove, crushed

Method:

  1. Spread the asparagus on a baking tray, season with the salt and drizzle with the oil. Toss until well coated. Heat the oven grill.
  2. Thread the asparagus onto skewers and grill for 3 minutes on either side.
  3. Combine the butter and garlic, then drizzle this over the asparagus and serve with trimmings of your choice, such as roast onion, garlic and tomatoes.
