Chocolate twister bread

I use chocolate Flakes for this as they’re very similar to the bars that bakers use to make their pain au chocolat, but any broken up chocolate will do.

You’ll need basic bread for this. Recipe here.

Chocolate twister bread

Serves: 1 loaf
Cooking Time: 1 hour plus extra for rising

Ingredients

  • 1 x basic bread dough recipe, made up to the end of step 2
  • 3 or 4 Flakes

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Divide the dough into 3 equal lumps and roll each piece into a long sausage shape. Break the Flakes up into pieces and press bits of chocolate into the dough.

2

Lay the chocolate-studded dough pieces side by side and plait them into one long piece, pressing the strands together at the end so they don’t unravel.

3

Slide the plaited dough onto a baking tray, pull the plait round into a crescent and leave somewhere warm to rise for about 20 minutes. Bake until risen, golden and cooked through, about 30 minutes.
