Puff pastry, chocolate and fig stack

Serves: 4
Cooking Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry

  • 2 large ready-made puff pastry squares
  • 60ml (¼ cup) icing sugar
  • Chocolate Sauce

  • 300g dark chocolate
  • 250ml (1 cup) fresh cream
  • 2,5ml (½ tsp) vanilla extract
  • 4 – 6 ripe figs, sliced
  • icing sugar, to serve

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 180°C and line two baking trays with baking paper.

2

Place the pastry squares (you can buy portions of ready-rolled squares from supermarkets) on a clean surface and cut into four squares. Place on baking trays and prick with a fork. Dust with the icing sugar and bake until golden, about 12 – 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

3

For the chocolate sauce, combine the ingredients in a small saucepan and gently melt over low heat. The sauce should be thick and glossy. To serve, place one puff pastry square on a plate and drizzle with chocolate sauce. Top with a second puff pastry square and drizzle with more sauce. Add sliced figs and dust with icing sugar just before serving.
