There’s not much of a hotel dining culture in South Africa, but the likes of Camissa may be taking the first steps to changing that. An intimate bistro-style space in what used to be The Table Bay Hotel’s Waterfront Conservatory, the menu is decidedly South African, with hyper-local ingredients married with typical Cape flavours. West Coast rock lobster arrives as a delicate curry, the rack of lamb is lightened by a purée of fresh peas and fromage blanc, and local venison is given a lift by tart pickled fruits. Overall, it’s a meat-heavy menu.
