Said to be the only burrito bar in the country, Four15 takes its name from the postcode of San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District that inspired owners, Ken and Michele Fourie, to establish this fun-filled Mexican restaurant in Durban North.
Upon entering, you’re struck by a massive mural that shouts: ‘HELLO. HOLA. HOWDY, HOWZET!’ Another advises: ‘Always leave room for dessert.’ Easier said than done: the robust, unpretentious fare satisfies the biggest appetite. We ordered the ‘So-Cal Burrito’ – roasted beef with pico de gallo salsa, French fries, guacamole and double cheese; and the ‘Tree Hugger’ – ratatouille, rice, beans, corn salsa, guacamole, cheese and sour cream. Also pure Mexican are the salsa dance classes offered on Monday evenings.
Open 11am – 9pm weekdays; and until 9:30pm on weekends. 41 MacKeurten Avenue, Durban North; 031-564-0415; four15.co.za.
