Qunu, one of the wonderful restaurants at the Saxon, introduces an innovative vegan vegetarian, the VegVegan, menu with bold flavours and an honest approach to cuisine, using only the finest South African seasonal ingredients and carefully selected produce from local artisans.
The kitchen brigade developed the VegVegan concept to offer vegetarian and vegan guests an innovative journey through the freshest and finest botanicals available. Every morning, fresh produce is handpicked Sarapana – the fruit, herb and vegetable garden – and featured on the menu to showcase home-grown seasonal favourites.
The VegVegan menu showcases heart-warming vegetarian and vegan dishes like a vegan French onion soup with croûtons, vegan cheese and parsley or a butternut, sesame and kimchi dish which is a butternut terrine served with sesame seared Asian greens, tahini and a kimchi maple turmeric dressing. For dessert, diners can look forward to coconut rice pudding served with a pineapple sorbet, macerated pineapple and a pineapple gel. These are just some of the highlights on the menu.
