“If you go back to the Greeks and the Romans, they talk about all three – wine, food and art – as a way of enhancing life.” Robert Mondavi
And happy (read: calm, relaxed and hungry) is exactly how you feel when you step into Mythos at Bedford Centre. The open space, the calming and authentic décor sets the scene of what will be an unforgettable Greek experience. On the menu you can expect the classics – a variety of meze, traditional kleftiko, mousaka and spanakopita, home-made baklava, halva and Greek coffee. We kicked off our casual lunch with a meze platter for two, filled with Keftethes, fillet souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, prawns, calamari, yiro, chicken livers, tzatziki, taramosalata and pita bread. Each bite was better than the first, with the creamy tzatziki, the perfect accompaniment to each and every piece on the platter. With our tummies already full, we couldn’t go to a Greek restaurant and not have the spanakopita, so we decided to tuck into a generous serving of these utterly delicious and mouth-watering morsels of pure perfection! To end of a wonderful gastronomic experience, we indulged in a helping of kataifi and ice cream – delicately spiced pecan nut and cinnamon filling, wrapped in shredded phyllo and covered in syrup. If Greek cuisine gets you all excited, then definitely visit the Mythos restaurant in Bedford Centre. Their passion for food and family ensures that every meal at Mythos is an experience to remember. Mythos has been voted the BEST GREEK RESTAURANT by Best of Joburg!
