Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to Rosto Italian Rotisserie, of course! Celebrating SA’s love for ilPollo, this brand new Linden eatery “make[s] chicken fly” with their tender free-range woodfire-roasted chicken and authentic Italian street food vibe. The interior is open, minimalist, but elegant, with contemporary wooden furniture and modish decor. The small yet classic menu is a white-meat lover’s dream, prepared in Rosto’s homemade secret brine, then cooked on a wood-burning rotisserie, infused with one of the three brilliant bastings available: chilli, sundried tomato and garlic; lemon and Mediterranean herbs; and Parmesan and rosemary. The chickpea fries made for the perfect side to my succulent piece of poultry! For nonmeat eaters, expect a mouth-watering Parmigiana di melanzane. A selection of street food dishes like arancino and focaccia should not be missed, with flavour combinations like spinach, ham and provolone or wild oregano, onion and Parmesan. Round it all off with iDolci (dessert). I highly recommend the panna cotta and liven life up with a granita. Certain options are available to take away. 69 7th Street, Linden; 011-888-0369.
