Tapered Tapas on 1st is the newest and trendiest hidden gem in Linden Johannesburg. Described as serving “a variety of mouth-watering tapas made from fresh local produce”, Tapered combines the Spanish influence of tapas with our South African heritage to bring guests a unique tapas experience.
Over the years, owner Tshepo Meyer has had many different food adventures, enjoying the flavours, textures, and tastes from around the world. She has brought back her favourite items and combined it all to create a unique and delicious menu offering that guests can enjoy while taking in the picturesque view of leafy-green Johannesburg.
“I grew up in a large family and food was always at the centre of everything in our house. Food brings people together, so I wanted to create a space with great food, a great ambiance where people could congregate” Tshepo says. That is why the collaboration with Waterford wines was so perfect!
Tapered will be stocking wines from the Waterford Estate, located in the picturesque Blaauwklippen Valley, in the world-renowned Stellenbosch region. Combining the incredible wines with this menu will take the Tapered experience to the next level.
Tapered will be keeping the Waterford Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache Noir and Rose-Mary Rosé, to name but a few. These wines can be paired with the home-made Hummus and Pita, the Moorish Chicken thigh skewers with Mojo Picon Sauce, Mozzarella Stix with Romesco Sauce, and the rosé will end off the evening perfectly with their delicious chocolate Brownie.
At the core of Tapered is the love for, and enthusiasm around supporting community initiatives and causes. “This is something very close to my heart and our Tapered story would not be complete without that piece. We have already started engaging with a few community- based projects to see how we can get involved with some of the work they do. We are looking forward to growing those kinds of relationships. After all, in the words of Sir Richard Branson, doing good is good business” says Tshepo.
