Jenny Morris, our very own Giggling Gourmet, has opened Yumcious in Cape Town’s Cape Quarter – an ode to her eclectic and vibrant cooking style, oozing simple sophistication. Casual and inviting, there’s no Wi-fi – they want you to concentrate on eating, laughing and being merry. They’re open daily for breakfast and lunch, but most flock here for the fresh, lunchtime harvest table (or ‘kilo’ table). With over 20 beautifully presented dishes on offer – including freshly made salads, quiches, terrines, cold meats and freshly baked bread – it’s a menagerie of spice, crunch and delicate flavour balance. Favourites include succulent pork belly with wafer-crisp crackling, sultry seaweed and citrusy prawn salads, luscious salmon and cucumber terrine, and deconstructed baba ganoush. Vegetarians go wild for the crisp falafel and moreish spinach and lentil fritters. There’s also a great range of burgers and gourmet sandwiches to choose from, as well as an array of delectable cakes and pastries – the carrot cake with poppy seeds is a must! 41 Napier Street; 083 372 0472.
