Mulled cider

Mulled cider

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 125ml brown sugar or honey
  • a dash of salt
  • 1 litre cider
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 5 slices fresh ginger
  • 100ml brandy
  • dried or fresh apple rings, to garnish

Instructions

In a pot over a medium heat, combine the sugar, salt and cider. Tie the spices and ginger in a small piece of cheesecloth fastened with string.

Add it to the cider mixture and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove and discard the spice sachet.

Directly before serving, add the brandy and divide the stillwarm cider equally between four mugs or heatproof glasses. Garnish with a dried apple ring and serve immediately.
