Waffles a la suzette
A take on the classic crepe suzette just got tastier. Try out this Waffles a la suzette recipe for a delicious and warm ,citrus dessert this winter. To get abit cheeky, add a dash of Grand Marnier or orange liqueur to the sauce and flambé !!

INGREDIENTS
SUZETTE SAUCE
- 125 g butter
- 110 g caster sugar
- 2 tsp finely grated orange zest
- ½ cup orange juice
TO SERVE
- 8 store-bought waffles
- 2 oranges, peeled and sliced thinly into rounds
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 2 tbsp flaked almonds, toasted
METHOD
SUZETTE SAUCE
MELT butter in a pot over low heat. Add sugar, zest and juice and cook, stirring, over low heat and without boiling, until sugar dissolves.
BRING to the boil and lower the heat to a simmer. Without stirring, cook uncovered for 2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
TO SERVE
HEAT waffles according to packet instructions.
DIVIDE waffles and orange slices among four plates. Serve the Waffles a la suzette topped with ice cream, a generous drizzle of sauce and flaked almonds.
