Instructions
For the paprika-battered fish
COMBINE all the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Whisk soda water and egg together and add it to the dry ingredients.
HEAT oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Dip fish fillets into the batter, wiping off any excess batter, and carefully drop into the hot oil. Cook for 5 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
For the turnip chips
PREHEAT the oven to 220ºC.
MIX all the ingredients together in a bowl and toss well to coat. Lay out the wedges evenly between 1-2 baking trays and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Flip the fries. Spread them out again and bake for another 10 minutes, until tender.
To serve
SERVE the hot, crispy fish with turnip chips, dollops of tartar sauce and lemon wedges.
Notes
If you're looking to level up your batter, swap the soda water for beer! Tip from the team: To make turnip chips in an air fryer, simply preheat the air fryer to 200ºC. Working in single-layer batches, fry each batch for 10 minutes, shaking the basket at the 5-minute mark.
