• Calling all Durban foodies: The second round of the previously sold-out collaboration is on its way, as Kobus van der Merwe, Vusi Ndlovu and Johannes Richter reunite at The LivingRoom.

    As a city far too often overlooked in South Africa’s culinary happenings, Durban’s foodie crowd will no doubt be thrilled to know a remarkable collaboration is headed to their shores. 

    Taking shape in a celebration comprising two dinners and one lunch in honour of culinary excellence and camaraderie. 

    Set for Friday, 29 August and Saturday, 30 August 2025, The LivingRoom at Summerhill Guest Estate is the next stop for this collaboration between the three acclaimed chefs: Kobus van der Merwe (Wolfgat), Vusi Ndlovu (EDGE) and Johannes Richter (The LivingRoom).

    Following an exceptional weekend at Wolfgat earlier this year, the trio will bring their combined talents to Durban for an experience that promises bold flavours, boundary-pushing creativity and a spirit of friendship and camaraderie.

    The Chefs

    South Africa’s Chef of the Year, Johannes Richter, is celebrated for his inventive yet deeply rooted cuisine at The LivingRoom. He brings a blend of modern and classical techniques with hyper-local produce and nostalgic Durban flavours. Richter’s work is inspired by a strong commitment to sustainability and provenance.

    From Wolfgat in Paternoster, Kobus van der Merwe is renowned for his seasonal, forage-driven cooking inspired by the unique biodiversity of the West Coast. His refined yet grounded approach translates his surroundings into dishes of rare purity and expression.

    Bringing a contemporary take on African cuisine, Vusi Ndlovu of EDGE blends deep cultural traditions and storytelling with modern techniques and open-fire cooking. His dishes tell a story of heritage and innovation, showcasing the vibrancy of African ingredients and flavours.

    The nine-course tasting menu will see each chef present signature creations alongside dishes inspired by one another’s work, resulting in a dining experience that is unexpected, collaborative and uniquely South African.

    Service for both nights will be led by The LivingRoom’s sommelier, Johanna Richter, alongside restaurateur Absie Pantshwa of EDGE.
