• Inimitable product design, boundless creativity, and of course, solaire yellow…the colour of positivity and the rising sun. This is what exemplifies Veuve Clicquot’s solaire culture, a culture that has given rise to collectible products that embody the spirit of Veuve Clicquot. Enhancing the art of living with beautiful, innovative design is part of the Maison’s past and now, its future too.

This year marks 250 years of Veuve Clicquot and with that, a quarter century of solaire culture. In honour of this milestone, Veuve Clicquot has collaborated with Smeg to launch a special version of the FAB28 fridge customised in the iconic Veuve Clicquot yellow, a combination of design and innovation that encapsulates the spirit of the two brands.

Renowned for its soft rounded curves, the iconic FAB28 refrigerator has become a household name and iconic symbol around the world. The 270-litre capacity fridge features the signature Veuve Clicquot yellow, symbolising the values of audacity and optimism that the house has carried for 250 years, and the Veuve Clicquot branding.

The Veuve Clicquot X Smeg collaboration also includes the mini Clicquot Fridge gift box that embodies the very same design principles. This collectible insulated box demonstrates the Maison’s ability to take the everyday and transform it into something unique and desirable.

Available in limited quantities, this iconic gift pack is available in classic solaire yellow, bears the 250th birthday emblem and retails from R799,95. 100% iconic, the Clicquot Fridge design looks back to Veuve Clicquot’s love of design and beautiful objects. But it also looks forward – to more sustainable innovation.

Having pledged itself to a greener future in 1990, Veuve Clicquot has made monumental shifts in the way that it produces its champagne from grape to glass. For the new Clicquot Fridge, this means a plastic-free box designed in pewter, an infinitely recyclable material. With a removable inner wedge made from sugar cane waste, the box can be re-used, giving it a second life.

Further emphasising the Maison’s talent for innovation, the box is isothermal, keeping your bottle of champagne cool for up to 2 hours and broadening the horizons of where you are able to enjoy your champagne.

This collaboration, which boasts items like the Clicquot Fridge and the Veuve Clicquot Smeg FAB28 refrigerator, offers more than just collectors’ pieces. They manifest the brand’s continued ability to draw inspiration from the past in order to continue to create a brighter and more sustainable future.

*Veuve Clicquot Smeg FAB28 refrigerators can be purchased at Yuppiechef, Makro, Norman Goodfellows, Pick n Pay, Spar Tops and Boulevard Cellars.
