• Basic eggnog punch is a holiday staple. Who wouldn’t love to enjoy this creamy warm delight while watching the lights twinkle on a Christmas tree? Make enough for your family and have a jolly holiday evening!

    Basic eggnog punch

    Serves: Makes about 3,5 litres
    Cooking Time: 15 mins + extra for chilling

    Ingredients

    • 12 jumbo egg yolks
    • 500g sugar
    • 1 litre full-cream milk
    • 1 litre spiced rum
    • 5ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract
    • 1 litre cream, lightly whipped
    • 10ml (2 tsp) ground nutmeg, to garnish

    Instructions

    Beat the yolks in a large mixing bowl and gradually add the sugar. Beat until the mixture thickens. Stir in the milk, rum and vanilla.

    Pour the egg mixture into a large punch bowl and allow to chill for 4 hours.

    Fold in the fresh cream before serving.

    Garnish with the nutmeg and serve.
