If your Heritage Day plans usually involve a fire, good food and a group of friends, Heinz has another option for the calendar.
The brand is hosting Heinz Braai Day at The River Cabin in Fourways, Johannesburg, on Thursday, 24 September 2026, bringing together more than 100 braai stands, a communal braai, live music, games and, naturally, plenty of Heinz sauce.
The event is built around one of South Africa’s favourite Heritage Day traditions: the braai. But instead of setting up at home, visitors can head to Fourways for a large-scale braai experience where the fires, fuel and sauces are taken care of.
A Heritage Day braai with a difference
From 12:00 to 15:00, the Heinz Braai Day experience will centre on the braai itself. Guests are encouraged to bring their own meat, snacks and people, while Heinz provides the braai stands, coal, firelighters and sauces.
There will be 125 braai stands available, along with one giant Heinz emblem and a communal braai setup.
And then there is the age-old South African question: ketchup or tomato sauce? Heinz is inviting guests to bring their own opinions to the table, with the event promising plenty of opportunities to settle the debate over the braai.
The braai turns into a festival
Once the fires start winding down, the music gets louder.
From 15:00 to 20:00, the event shifts into a festival-style afternoon, with DJs Vin D, Chrizz Beatz, Nate and Bazzy on the lineup before DJ Kent takes over as the headline act.
There will also be games and activities throughout the day, including Giant Jenga, bean bag toss and Mix It Up, with prizes up for grabs.
Families are also catered for, with Heinz Little Squeezers hosting a dedicated family zone featuring age-appropriate activities and entertainment.
With more than 150 years of history behind the brand, Heinz is putting its own spin on one of South Africa’s biggest food and cultural celebrations.
