• The world’s finest restaurants have been recognised in the 2026 edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, with establishments across Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa earning places in this year’s prestigious ranking. Among them is Cape Town’s La Colombe, which secured the 35th position.

According to the Daily Mail, the annual list celebrates restaurants pushing the boundaries of contemporary dining through innovative cooking techniques, exceptional ingredients and distinctive approaches to hospitality. This year’s selection includes everything from traditional cuisine reimagined with modern techniques to immersive dining experiences that bring together food, art and theatre.

Taking the top spot is Asador Etxebarri in Spain, followed by Bangkok’s Gaggan and Copenhagen’s Alchemist. The top 10 also features restaurants in Mexico City, Hong Kong, Lima, Madrid and Paris, highlighting the diversity of culinary influences shaping the international dining scene.

    1. Asador Etxebarri, Atxondo, Spain

Taking first place is Asador Etxebarri, a restaurant in Spain’s Basque Country renowned for its approach to cooking over an open fire. Chef-owner Victor Arguinzoniz has built a reputation for transforming exceptional ingredients through carefully controlled grilling techniques.
