• After a farewell to their Scott Street location, How’s Your Oni is set to charm Capetonians once again, this time in the heart of Green Point. The official opening day for their new spot, situated at 47 Main Road, Green Point, took place on Friday, 26 January. You can look forward to the same delectable treats and unique Japanese culinary experience that made How’s Your Oni a beloved spot in Gardens.

The menu offers starters, also known as ippinryori. These small bites and additions to dishes range from gyoza, dumplings, edamame beans, steamed rice and more. Served as a portion of four, the dumplings are adequate in size and packed with flavour, placed on top of a spicy soy-based sauce.

For those unfamiliar with the term, onigiri is a traditional Japanese delight – a triangular parcel of rice filled with a pickled or salty centre, wrapped in nori (dried seaweed).

The Green Point location promises to be a funky spot infused with vintage Japanese pop culture.

In the meantime, you can still catch How’s Your Oni at the Oranjezicht City Farm Market on Wednesday nights from 5pm to 9pm.
