Traditional South African Baked Milk Tart
- ½ cup flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 tab butter (melted)
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 cups full cream milk
- 1 tab vanilla essence
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
Sift all the dry ingredients and set aside.
Cream the butter and sugar, and add the egg yolks.
Whisk the egg whites separate till a soft peak.
Add the dry ingredients and milk to butter and sugar mixture.
Fold in the egg whites and mix well. Add the vanilla essence.
Pour into a 20cm round oven proof dish and bake for 30 to 40 min till set.
Dust with cinnamon, can be served hot or chilled.
Decorate with fresh cream and berries.
