All new, DAGGA Boy (pronounced da-gah)

Manufactured in South Africa from a blend of organic molasses sourced from our very own African soil, DAGGA BOY rum has no additives, colours, preservatives or sweeteners. It is hand-made in craft-sized and collectable batches by master distillers with a 20-year heritage.

In a world where everyone is asking you to follow them, STRAY FROM THE HERD.

The name “DAGGA BOY” is taken from the famous African buffalo bachelor mud boys. Their loner, no – quarter – given – lifestyle inspired a moniker that denotes the freedom of living life on your terms (even if you are, at times, a bit grumpy!) Notoriously obstinate and solitary, African buffalo bulls are never too far from the muddy shallows of their local watering hole. Elder buffalo males are the most cantankerous of the lot. Grumpy, unpredictable and with unforgiving temperaments, these are the gents that earned buffalos their deserved spot in the Big Five.

Kevin Wright, co-founder of DAGGA BOY, says: “We have worked extensively in developing, testing and refining a premium sipping rum recipe that is befitting of the name. Enjoyment of our African sipping rum is best experienced in conjunction with laughter filled conversations, be it whilst in the bush, at the club, around a braai or your regular table at the local watering hole.”

    Dagga Boy doing good

DAGGA BOY is also a benefactor to Down 2 The Wire –  an organisation aimed at creating awareness around poaching and specifically the inhumane act of snaring. Once removed by anti-poaching units, snares serve no other purpose. However, the team at Down 2 The Wire rework them into uniquely handcrafted bangles as a symbol of life. Funds raised are dispersed to a select group of wildlife veterinarians who have dedicated their lives to making a difference within wildlife conservation, covering costs of treatment and animal rehabilitation.

Dagga Boy is matured in African premium red wine oak wood infusing a delicious, rounded & bold taste with hints of sweet, woody vanilla, smokey caramel, and a hint of citrus peel before finishing with a rich roasted cocoa and a kiss of spicy Seville orange on the palate. The rum is best sipped neat over ice or served in a signature cocktail.

RRSP: R499 and can be purchased via the website or at select retailers.
