Grilled asparagus with hemp oil

TO DRINK: Mooiplaas Sauvignon Blanc 2007: flavours of tropical fruit, asparagus and figs work with this delicate dish.

Grilled asparagus with hemp oil

Serves: 4
Cooking Time: 15 mins


  • 16 fresh asparagus spears
  • pinch of salt
  • 60ml (¼ cup) oil (we used hemp oil)
  • 60ml (¼ cup) butter, melted
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed



Spread the asparagus on a baking tray, season with the salt and drizzle with the oil. Toss until well coated. Heat the oven grill.


Thread the asparagus onto skewers and grill for 3 minutes on either side.


Combine the butter and garlic, then drizzle this over the asparagus and serve with trimmings of your choice, such as roast onion, garlic and tomatoes.
