• Food and fun enthusiasts can brace for something more than just good food and wine this August. Time Square South Africa in Menlyn Maine is bringing Tshwane the biggest culinary and entertainment festival South Africa has yet seen. The Appetite Fest, taking place on 18 and 19 August 2018, will see Time Square’s Sun Arena and outdoor areas transformed into a playground of inspired food, drinks and entertainment.

    Local and international food heroes, frontline vineyards, cheesemakers restaurants, and producers will showcase some of the best culinary offerings in the country. In the Sun Arena, a wide range of exhibitors, craft brewers, artisan producers, premium drink brands and award-winning wineries will offer a bounty of the country’s finest foods and drinks to test-taste and purchase.  Also watch international and local celebrity chefs show-off their culinary prowess in food theatres, be part of interactive question and answer sessions, and meet and greet your favourite food stars at book signings, master classes or an exclusive chef’s table.  In the cast of culinary artistes confirmed to appear at Time Square’s Appetite Fest are Gary Mehigan; George Calombaris and Matt Preston of MasterChef Australia fame; Vineet Bhatia, a Michelin Star Chef from the United Kingdom, as well as top local chefs Siba Mtongana; Sarah Graham; Nti; J’ Something; Bertus Basson; Peter Tempelhoff; Chris Papayannes; Eric Bulpitt; Katlego Mlambo; Nathan Jacobs and Stephanie Ceronio.

    A family-friendly experience, Appetite Fest invites food and fun-loving South Africans of all ages. There will be themed, dedicated zones with entertainment and experiences for the ladies, guys and kids respectively. For the ladies think craft gin, champagne, pamper sessions, and sushi. For the guys think braai, bikes, beer and brannas while watching SA vs Argentina rugby on the biggest screen. Children will be safe and entertained in the access controlled and secure Kids Own zone with professional and caring child minders. Activities include jumping castles, jungle gyms, ball pit, face painting, children’s cooking theatre, coordination games and their very own kid’s food court. For the older crowd, there is Magic Company.

    Gourmet food trucks will serve up a diversity of exciting street food, while comedians, DJs and bands will keep visitors entertained in a vibrant, authentically South African festival-style. On the bill to entertain the crowds are Barry Hilton; Bobby Van Jaarsveld and Dan Nicholl, with more announcements to follow.
