• If ever you find yourself travelling west along the R44 towards Riebeeck Kasteel, you’ll happen to spot what appears to be giant piles of out-of-place haystacks on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere.

A closer look and you’ll spot a little tuk-tuk coffee cart, braai stand and some tables and chairs between the hay.

You’ve just stumbled across Morale Coffee To Go, the Boland’s hidden gem, where you can get everything from coffee to frozen drinks, breakfast buns and Roosterkoek.

Country vibes, great coffee and outrageous views

Located by the wheat and canola fields between Wellington and Hermon, the giant hay bales create a true country vibe fit for its scenery.

The choice of drink is wider than coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Morale Coffee To Go also serves a selection of Freezo’s in flavours including mango, strawberry, passion fruit, coffee, chocolate and hazelnut. Served by friendly baristas, Clayton and Levi, with a side of sharp banter.

    Don’t leave hungry

Besides serving refreshing drinks, Coffee To Go also cooks up a storm for breakfast and lunch. Get a breakfast bun stuffed with bacon, a fried egg and fried onions, or opt for a hot dog or ‘lekker’ boerie roll with red-onion-and-tomato relish.

If you’re in the mood for something a little more baked, the quirky coffee spot offers freshly-baked muffins, mini quiches, classic South African roosterkoeks and occasionally grapes or cherries too, depending on the season.
