Kids In The Kitchen

July 3, 2021

Too cold to go and play outside? Keep your little chefs busy with the following entertaining  activities.

Children love weighing and measuring and it teaches them valuable mathematical skills.

Icing biscuits
Bring out their inner artists with colour mixing (use small pastry brushes and a chopping board as a palette).

Tidying the

Tupperware cupboard will help build organisational and spatial skills.

Making pizza
Kneading dough and grating cheese strengthen little muscles; cutting fun shapes out of veggie toppings is good for fine motor development.

Melting butter, dissolving sugar and emulsifying mayonnaise are hands-on chemistry lessons.

Keeping clean
A drag for adults, washing up is a perennial favourite with kids and teaches about chores and responsibility. Cut head- and armholes through rubbish bags to keep younger children dry.

Ps: Always supervise children in the kitchen, no matter how old they are.
