• If you can’t afford to splurge on a timeless piece of fashion made by local award-winning designer Gert-Johan Coetzee, you can always grab a gourmet Valentine’s Day donut designed by the fashion icon himself.

Beyond dressing stars across the globe – including the likes of Kourtney Kardashian, Kristen Cavallari, Bonang Matheba, Rolene Strauss, Cindy Hudson and more – Gert-Johan Coetzee has branched out from fashion to food, by partnering with Johannesburg’s Pantry to create a piece of ‘edible couture’ – the Valentine’s donut.

Exclusively for the month of love, Coetzee’s edible work raspberry milkshake-flavoured art aims to “celebrate beauty in all its forms” by merging the opulence of baroque-inspired design with two of the designer’s favourite things – milkshake and love. Coetzee says:

“The dessert flavours are raspberry milkshakes and I love milkshakes. I thought it would be such a beautiful colour contrast.”

The Pantry, an extension of one of Johannesburg’s top restaurants – Marble – is based in the leafy suburb of Rosebank and is positioned as a hybrid model of a petrol station, supermarket, deli, take-away and retail store wrapped in one.

If you’re itching to get your hands on one of Gert’s donuts, you’ll need to act fast on Valentine’s Day.  The delectable piece of edible couture will only be available only on February 14 at 1 pm at The Pantry. Run don’t walk.
