Who can resist the comforting deliciousness of gnocchi? Especially when it’s bacon, pear and blue cheese gnocchi with sage. This smoky, cheesy, slightly sweet dish is the perfect quick and satisfying dinner.

Instructions

Add a big knob of butter to a large frying pan over medium heat and add 2 cored, peeled and chopped pears. Fry,5 minutes, before adding a large handful fresh chopped sage leaves and 1 peeled and minced garlic clove and continue frying, a further 3 minutes. Add 250g diced bacon and fry, a further 4 minutes, before adding 125ml (½ cup) white wine and simmer, 5 minutes. Add 250ml (1 cup) chicken stock and 250ml (1 cup) fresh cream and simmer until the sauce is thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in 100g crumbled blue cheese, taste and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toss with 500g potato gnocchi, cooked according to packet instructions. Serve warm, sprinkled with fresh sage leaves.
