Braai Boy braai sushi

Sushi is raw fish, right? Not when you’re from South Africa! This mouth-watering snack will definitely get friends and foes talking at your next braai

Braai Boy braai sushi

Serves: 4 – 6
Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 strips streaky bacon
  • 200g beef mince (spiced according to taste)
  • 75g Cheddar cheese, sliced into strips
  • 3 – 4 sweet piquanté peppers, finely chopped
  • barbecue sauce

Instructions

For the bacon weave, arrange the bacon strips into a lattice formation.

To assemble the braai sushi, spice the mince according to taste. Cover ? of the bacon weave with mince. Place strips of Cheddar on top of the mince. Add finely chopped piquanté peppers over the cheese. Roll it up to form a cylinder. Braai over indirect heat, 20 minutes.

Baste with barbecue sauce and braai, a further 10 minutes. Slice the roll into bite-size sushi portions and serve.

Notes

Try adding finely chopped onions and/or peppers – experiment and have fun.
