• These are crispy and full of flavour; drizzle with your favourite chocolate sauce as an alternative. Rose water is available at supermarkets and pharmacies.

    Fruit mince samoosas

    Serves: Makes 24
    Cooking Time: 20 mins


    • 24 samoosa sheets
    • 1 x 454g jar fruit mincemeat
    • 200ml oil, for frying
    • 50g icing sugar
    • 20ml rose water
    • 250g thick fresh cream, to serve



    Put the samoosa sheets on a working surface and put 20ml of the mincemeat mixture at the bottom of the strip. Fold to form a samoosa, continuing until all the samoosa sheets have been used.


    In a deep pot heat the oil. Deep-fry the samoosas until crispy, about 1 minute. Drain on kitchen towel and allow to cool.


    Mix the icing sugar and rose water to form a paste.


    Place the samoosas on a serving plate, drizzle with the icing sugar paste and serve with fresh cream.
