Even the best cooks can admit to being a little lazy with certain dishes. This fruit salad with cinnamon syrup is the slothful chef’s go-to for a dessert that’s simple, fuss-free and delicious.

Fruit salad with cinnamon syrup
- 160g castor sugar
- 125ml (½ cup) water
- 5ml (1 tsp) ground cinnamon
- 1 pineapple
- 2 kiwi fruits
- 8 strawberries
- 100g blueberries
- 4 nectarines
Simmer all the syrup ingredients in a pot until the sugar has dissolved and the liquid has reduced to a syrup.
Slice the fruit thinly, arrange on a dessert platter and serve, drizzled with the syrup.
