Green beans with buttered almonds are a classic. This retro dish has been a staple at elegant dinner parties throughout the decades, and is still just as popular. We’ve stuck with the traditional method of preparation for this delicious side.
Green beans with buttered almonds
- 300g fine green beans with points left on but stems trimmed off
- 15ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
- 5ml (1 tsp) vegetable spice seasoning
- 50g raw almonds, chopped
- 10g (1 tbsp) butter
Toss the beans with the olive oil to preserve the colour.
Steam on top of the stove in a vegetable steaming basket or in the microwave in a micro-steamer for no longer than six minutes.
Remove from the heat and sprinkle with vegetable spice seasoning.
Toast the almonds in the butter in a small frying pan until just golden.
Sprinkle the almonds over the beans and serve.
