The Cellars daily bread recipe

Give us today our Cellars daily bread… Because there’s nothing quite like a freshly baked bread with a spread of melting butter. Yum!

The Cellars daily bread

Ingredients

  • 240g (2 cups) white bread flour
  • 240g (2 cups) cake flour
  • 1 x 10g sachet of instant yeast
  • 50g (¼ cup) sugar
  • 60ml (¼ cup) sunflower oil
  • 5ml (1 tsp) salt
  • 500ml (2 cups) hot water
  • melted butter, for glazing

Instructions

1

Mix everything together in your mixer or with a wooden spoon. Do not knead. Place the dough in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Leave to rise in a warm place until double its size.

2

When the dough has risen, knock it down with a wooden spoon. Place the dough into a greased loaf tin that has been lined with baking paper.

3

Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for 10 minutes, lower the temperature to 180°C and bake until ready, about 40 minutes.

4

Remove from the tin and place on an oven rack in the oven for 10 minutes. Glaze the loaf with melted butter.
