• The beauty of marinating meat is that you play around with flavours and hope that they will come together to compliment one another and produce a taste your palette has never tasted before.

    Many chefs and braai masters may be in need of marinating sauces but however be on a very tight budget to purchase ready made marinating sauces but worry not because we are here to bring you ways in which you can maximize what is within the reach of your home for multiple uses.

    While cola drinks like Coca Cola remains one of those must haves in many households, we are here to tell you that this enjoyed cooldrink can also serve as a marinade for your meats. Whether you are roasting or braaing, cola is guaranteed to bring out all the juices and flavour out of your tender steaks and drumsticks.

    To continue off what we started, the recipe of this marinade contains everything that you will either find in your cupboards or in your fridge.

    The ingredients for this recipe as provided by Couple in the kitchen – restaurant connoisseurs – are:

    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • one lemon
    • 4 cloves garlic
    • ½ cup of soy sauce
    • 2 cups of cola such as Coca Cola
    • ¼ cup of vegetable oil
    • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
    • 4 tablespoons of Worcestershire  sauce

    In  a big bowl mix all your ingredients and allow the meat of your choice to marinate in this mixture and place it in the fridge. You may decide on the duration of the process, however, it is advised that you allow it stay for 8 hours or longer as the meat tends to get more tender and juicy with a longer duration of time left in the marinade.
