• Situated right on the Victoria Basin amid mesmerising harbour views and beneath the iconic background of Table Mountain lies a multi-award-winning Asian restaurant and bar that has scooped up yet another international accolade at the recent World Culinary Awards held in Dubai.

Named after the Tang dynasty which ruled in China from the year 618 to the year 907, TANG V&A Waterfront has been crowned Africa’s Best New Restaurant for 2023.

Established only in 2020, the World Culinary Awards is the sister event of the World Travel Awards and serves to celebrate and honour excellence in the culinary industry through its annual awards programme.

Each year, the awards operate on a self-nomination process whereby members of the culinary community and industry consumers may nominate or enter a selection of categories. The final winners are determined by the number of votes gained during the voting period.

‘It is an incredible honour to provide premium dining experiences to those who seek the extraordinary,’ said entrepreneur extraordinaire, dedicated foodie and founder of the MIRAMAR Collection, which encompasses TANG Sandton, TANG V&A Waterfront and soon TANG Dubai, Nicky van der Walt.

‘My deepest thanks and appreciation go to the entire TANG team, whose dedication and creativity have made this achievement possible,’ he added.

At the helm of TANG V&A Waterfront’s culinary success story is Group Executive Chef Vixa Kalenga and his award-winning team who continuously serve a sensory-driven dining experience inspired by contemporary Japenese izakayas and classic Cantonese cuisine with a luxurious twist.

But don’t just take our word for it. Escape the regular and experience the unprecedented with their menu highlights, including black cod miso, Peking duck, yellowtail sashimi as well as a selection of gourmet sushi and wok dishes.
