We’ve teamed up with award-winning South African mixologist, Owen O’Reilly, to bring you Easter-inspired cocktails… or hoptails, as we’re calling them.
Owen holds the title of South Africa Bartender of the Year 2019 after representing the country as a finalist at the global World Class competition in Glasgow with contestants from 54 other countries.
Enjoy shaking up his custom-made hoptails – we guarantee you’ll be a happy bunny.
Smoky hot cross flip
- 1 whole raw organic egg
- 40ml peated whiskey
- 20ml pale dry Sherry
- 25ml hot cross syrup (recipe here)
- mini speckled chocolate eggs, to garnish
Use an egg topper to open the egg. Pour out the contents and reserve. Rinse the eggshell, allow to dry, then spray-paint it gold.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the egg with all the other ingredients. Top up with ice and shake hard for 15 – 20 seconds. Strain through a fine strainer into a small, chilled wine glass.
Garnish by placing the gold eggshell on top, filled with the mini speckled chocolate eggs. Serve.
