With general grocery prices climbing, why not skip the store-bought almond milk and make your own? All it takes is a handful of almonds, a blender, and four simple steps for fresh, creamy homemade almond milk.
Homemade almond milk
Ingredients
- 1 cup almonds
- 2 cups water
Instructions
SOAK the almonds in a bowl of water for at least two days. The longer they soak, the creamier the almond milk will be.
DRAIN and rinse the soaked almonds, they should fell super soft to the touch. Place them in a blender with 2 cups of water.
PULSE for 2 minutes to break up the almonds. Then blend on high for another 2 minutes. The mixture should be filled with almond bits and a milky liquid.
STRAIN the mixture using a clean dish towel or muslin cloth, making sure to press the cloth to release as much liquid as possible (you could buy a nut-bag made for draining nut milks). Sweeten to taste and store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
