    Meeting the Makers

    Somerbosch
    A peek into the cellar

We had the incredible privilege of meeting James and Marius Le Roux, the 3rd and 4th generation winemakers behind Somerbosch. Their passion for their craft is infectious, and it’s clear why this family-run estate has become synonymous with quality and hospitality. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual lunch with friends while the kids play on the gorgeous manor lawn or planning an intimate wedding celebration by the cosy fireplace, Somerbosch adapts beautifully to every occasion.

Chef Zenta’s Winemakers Lunch – Pure Magic

    Somerbosch
    Chef Zenta’s winemaker’s lunch

The absolute highlight of our visit was Chef Zenta’s Winemakers Lunch in the intimate tasting room cellar. This exclusive experience is limited to 12-16 guests and requires advance booking (at least a week ahead), but it’s worth every bit of planning.

The atmosphere in the cellar is simply enchanting – time seems to stand still as conversation and laughter flow as freely as the exceptional wines. Our four-course feast was a masterclass in flavour:

    • Steamed beef brisket buns with house-made mayonnaise and chilli crisp oil
    • Garlic and herb lentil spread served with fresh flatbread, tomato and red pepper salsa, caramelised onion, and exotic mushrooms
    • Rolled beef sirloin stuffed with spring onion and bone marrow, perfectly paired with creamy mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach, courgette ribbons, and tarragon cream

Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. The ability to customise your menu from seasonal offerings and pair each course with rare and current vintage wines (their award-winning chenin blanc is absolutely divine!) makes this experience truly special.
