• A magical place of food, drink and shopping lies in the Helderberg region, charming both locals and visitors alike. Pajamas & Jam, a breakfast and brunch eatery in Strand, is a family-owned business managed by the De Villiers family.

From open to close, guests are welcomed into this home-away-from-home with farm-style hospitality and comfort.

Whether you’re looking for a wholesome breakfast to start your day with, a delicious brunch to share with loved ones or a refreshing drink to relax with, this Helderberg gem is the ideal go-to for anyone yearning to recharge among comfort and friendly faces.

    What’s on the menu?

Pajamas & Jam focuses mainly on breakfast and lunch. Their options are all unique and delectable, with a special spin on each of their dishes.

    Breakfast

Their Traditional breakfast isn’t just eggs on toast, but rather traditional grilled beef sausages served in a Moroccan tomato smoor with fried eggs, served with pesto butter beans on polenta and curried pepper jam. Instead of the mundane toasted slice, this meal is accompanied by mieliebrood.

Or try the Mushroom Affair, a bowl with the creamiest parmesan and paprika mushrooms served with spiced chickpeas, baguette, a poached egg and a slight truffle oil drizzle.

    Lunch

Meaty or vegetarian, hot or cold, there is something to suit every taste. Pasta lovers should try the Homemade Potato Gnocchi with grilled artichokes and broken fior di latte, sprinkled with nutty date and sundried tomato crumb, and a generous amount of parmesan in a creamy pesto sauce.

We recommend that hungry eaters with healthy appetites dig into their classic winter bowl of pulled butter chicken served with a homemade roti and a chopped Israeli salad.

Or for something refreshing, why not munch a Salmon Poke bowl served fresh, tossed in teriyaki soya on brown rice with chopped slaw, baby spinach, and edamame beans; cubed avocado, pickled ginger, and kewpie mayo; sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds, spring onions and a wonton; on the side accompanied by ponzu shoyu – a healthy feast in a bowl.

    A share affair

At Pajamas & Jam, a meal is also an opportunity for people to connect. Both breakfast and lunch have sharing options on the menu, perfect for couples who enjoy breaking bread together.

Their Festive Breakfast Pan is a beautiful breakfast, rich in olive oil: caramelised leeks, roast aubergines layered with an onion parmesan sauce joined by wilted baby spinach, crumbled feta, spiced ratatouille, za’atar oil, curried pumpkin seeds, and poached egg. All this deliciousness is also accompanied by challah.

For lunch, share the Cremonzola and Pear Foccacia with a friend. This dish uses their home-rolled onion and olive bases topped with buffalo mozzarella, artichoke, and sundried tomato with olive preserves. For extra oomph, honey-soaked soft pears, broken cremonzola, and date-sweetened aubergines join the pajama party.

    Plant-based friendly

Take home something scrumptious from their bakery, such as a gourmet cake, delectable pastries, homemade breads, or small sweet or savoury treats like tarts, biscuits, rusks, scones, muffins and so much more. Or decorate your home with beautifully designed and created items like candles and candle holders, vases, baskets, ceramics, glassware, kitchenware, and antique heirlooms – the list is endless.

They also have a small selection of decorative florals, books, and pantry items for sale. Pajamas & Jam is more than just an eatery; it is a wholesome experience for anyone who finds themselves at their doorstep.
