Butterscotch sauce with marshmallows

“Yum!” “So good!” “Oh my goodness!” These are just some of the words uttered by the F&HE team when we indulged in this butterscotch sauce. It is perfect for dipping marshmallows, or for drizzling over your favourite pud… Make a large batch. You won’t be able to stop eating this sauce…

Butterscotch sauce with marshmallows

Serves: 250ml (1 cup)
Cooking Time: 15 mins + refrigeration


  • 100ml golden syrup
  • 40g butter
  • 80g treacle sugar
  • 100ml fresh cream + 30ml (2 tbsp) extra, if needed
  • marshmallows, to serve



Place the syrup, butter and sugar in a small pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.


Remove from heat and add the cream. Return to medium heat and simmer, 2 – 3 minutes. Add extra cream, if needed.


Pour into a container and refrigerate until thickened.


Serve drizzled over marshmallows or your favourite pudding.
